It is a colourless lobation or acicular crystal with corrosive to skin and toxic, sublimed to form hexagon columnar and easy deliquescence. Its relative density is 1.009. It is soluble in water and methanol, slightly soluble in ethanol, insoluble in propanone and liquid ammonia. When it is in hot water decomposition will occur to release ammonia and ammonium bifluoride.
